Funded Projects

We donate to the youthinbc chat line and phone line, marketing them in conjunction with DYSL. Our posters and pens advertise our mutual affiliation.

Funded Projects

  • "Spirit Award" Bursaries
  • Youth-Initiated Projects
  • STEP/LEAP

Other ways in which we have served the community are:

  • Giving gifts of appreciation to local youth who have shown community spirit towards DYSL and its mandate. They may have assisted in the Discoveries Thrift Store, volunteered their time in creating and designing our logo, or simply offered their time and energy.
  • Donating items from the Discoveries Thrift Store for a local high school play
  • Providing a handicap-friendly ramp to an otherwise inaccessible strip mall where the Discoveries Thrift Store is located
  • Donating clothing and books to other non-profit organizations
  • Assisting a local family in crisis by providing an open door to our DYSL WearHouse
  • Advertising local events on our Discoveries Thrift Store bulletin board
  • Outfit youth for job interviews from our Discoveries Thrift Store.
  • Funding students who need financial assistance with special school programs and/or activities
  • Provide Community Hour youth with a safe environment to complete their allotted hours of Community service needed
  • Provide a safe environment for high school students to complete the 30 hours of volunteering required to graduate high school
