Mission

Our mission is to support and engage youth in Delta to achieve their full potential.

Vision

Our vision is of a community and an agency that provide a friendly, stimulating safe and caring environment in which to live and work.

DYSL is an Enterprising Non-Profit, thus, our sustainable funding comes mainly from our DYSL WearHouse Thrift Store in Tsawwassen. This is not your ordinary Thrift Store! It has become a social enterprise for volunteers and customers to feel welcomed, nurtured and always appreciated...and have fun. Our staff and volunteers provide mentoring and opportunities for people of all ages, and of all abilities, to learn new skills. In addition, we also, provide a safe and respectful environment for youth to complete community hours.

We fund and develop programs to high schools in South and North Delta. It is to develop leadership and encourage volunteering. For more information on our programs, please see our programs page.

Not only are we a charitable organization, but we also donate to other charities. We donate gifts to needy youth in Delta at Christmas, funding to youthinbc.com chat line, clothing to the downtown Eastside shelters and bedding to the Delta Community Animal Shelter.

Bursaries

Bursaries are issued to graduating Grade 12 students for post-secondary education. We are proud to announce that we have increased our Bursaries for 2014:

  • Spirit Award Bursaries from $500 to $1,000 to a student at each of Delta’s seven high schools. Recipients will have demonstrated personal accomplishments despite adversity throughout their high school years.
  • Leadership Bursaries for 2014 have grown from 9 recipients to 26 recipients, each recipient will be awarded $1,000. Three students at each of Delta’s seven high schools and private schools will receive these bursaries.

The Delta Youth Support Link volunteers are the heart and soul of the DYSL charity and thrift store. They provide an invaluable energy, expertise and service to our organization. We are always in need of volunteers for special events, fundraisers, thrift store and administrative support. WE NEED YOU! To join our dynamic DYSL Team please email us at admin@dyslsociety.com.
